Into eagle wings when she would smile,
Thinking twice of me, then flies my way,
Warmly perched on my desires awhile,
Yet her footsteps have now been lifted:
She had been headshot, the man bolted,
And her mortal form, just then, exalted.

Looking over at the empty spot next to me, I sit here and I wonder what you'd be like and look like until my eyes begin to spiritualize the kindness within your heart, and my mind begins to materialize the bone and flesh of your existence, projecting my prayer light-speed for God to bring you closer to me somewhere over the treetops out there in the pandoric universe; you can be anywhere in the world, but you are here, for my prayer, even though I cannot see, descends on wistful wings upon your lap of loneliest moods, vanquishes all doubt by the layer and reaches out to lift your face where you are shown the way home to my warm, irongrip embrace, to relinquish the storm that broods so our souls can worry-free roam a place of far less terrible things forever and forever, you and me.

And Just Like That Letting Go Feels So Much Easier

There's something life changing in the way you tap your pen against the desk. I'm not just saying so to sound poetically nice on page, but because with the click of your pen meeting wood I can see myself on the other side, being caught in your gaze when you look out over your glasses. I see myself telling you how annoying it is. You sticking your tongue out and laughing. I would say it not because the sound drives me crazy, but because seeing you laughing does. When I say something as small as a nervous tick is life changing it's because I can feel you changing my life. Even in the small moments.

Moss green fence slats lay decaying in the backyard, half dried from recent rain. The squirrels rustle across dead leaves, fleeing barking dogs and near-silent cats prowling for a quick meal.
